Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion finely diced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 can green chilies diced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger shredded
  • 2 large tomatoes sliced
  • 1 stick butter divided
  • 2 large eggs slightly beaten
  • 1/2 packet Shan Chappli Kabab mix

Directions

  1. Combine ground beef, onion, garlic, green chilis, eggs, kabab mix and half stick butter. Knead to mix thoroughly and let sit for half and hour. Meanwhile slice the tomatoes. Heat the remaining butter in a skillet. Form the beef into patties. Push a tomato slice into each patty and lay the patty tomato side down in the skillet. Cook until no longer pink. Serve over a bed of shredded lettuce.
  2. Note: the Chappli Kabab mix can be bought at Asian or Indian grocery stores. Or you can make your own by combining around a teaspoon or to taste of these spices: salt, pepper, coriander, cumin, ground ginger, garlic powder, onion powder, cinnamon, mace, bay leaf and fenugreek.
